Author facts:
1. I have coordinated international projects (collaboration between my school and other schools across Europe) for many years and all of my projects received National Quality Labels (one of the best in the country) and European Quality Label (one of the best projects in Europe). As part of one of my projects, we planted trees and I have managed to get every single child in my school to plant a sapling. It was a major event, as we took every class out with their little sapling and their wellies and we planted 420 trees in one week. The following year, we planted another 200 saplings and we also took part in the last campaign initiated by Her Majesty The Queen, “The Queen’s Green Canopy” (Plant a tree for the jubilee). As a result of my international work, my school was awarded the International School Award and I had been invited to attend to a special ceremony at the Parliament, in 2018.

2. For many years I contributed to the “Subject Genius” page on TES, with articles about teaching French in Early Years, KS1 and KS2. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, TES decided to change the look of their website and I lost most of my articles, which I did not save on my computer. However, I still have some of my articles online. One on my favourites can be found here:

3. Although I am not a great singer, I have delivered French singing whole school assemblies for an entire academic year. I think that my enthusiasm made the entire school sing in French once a week, not only the pupils, but the teaching staff as well. The phrase of the year was “I can’t get this song out of my head now, but I like it”.

4. My favourite book is “Le petit prince”, by Antoine de Saint Exupery. I have been reading this book since I was 14 and every time I read it again, I still find new things, which I didn’t discover before. I probably know nearly by heart the entire book and I am happy that I had the great chance to be able to read the book in 3 different languages and this gives you such a fantastic perspective of the book! I think that this is one of the greatest advantages of speaking another language: another perspective of life, in general.
