Linda-Jane Simpson is a creative teacher and writer with extensive experience and skills in several areas of education.

She has brought her great enthusiasm for stories and drama into her work with children and students as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Edinburgh and as an experienced teacher and manager in nurseries and schools.

As an exponent of cross-curricular approaches, she uses a combination of language, drama, art and music to explore themes and issues. Story contexts and roles really engage children, and motivate purposeful learning.

Her research projects focus on the influence of role-play on both the child writer’s voice and their personal development. She is passionate about helping teachers achieve the knowledge and confidence to enable them to provide stimulating experiences for their pupils. She receives enthusiastic feedback from teachers who use the ideas in Into the Garden of Dreams. Her active yet reflective workshops are acclaimed by students, teachers and advisers who experience personally the empowering effects of drama and role-play techniques.

Her life is richer for regular involvement with friends in Qigong, yoga, skiing, hill-walking, nature and the outdoors.
