Author facts:
I have been keen on drawing since I was little and would draw pictures for my classmates to take home. I used to come up with pages and pages of funky fashion ideas and replicate cartoon characters from TV programmes. These days, I practice my drawing skills when I design birthday cards for members of my family. (Elizabeth illustrated the graphic novels she has published with us.)
Recently I have taken up knitting. I am trying to make a scarf out of white, red and blue cotton yarn. If you look past the holes and loose threads, it’s coming along just fine.
Before I worked in schools, I used to sell drinks and pies in Brighton’s football stadium, and later I was in charge of making coffee in a little cafe. I taught myself how to do latte art and would serve customers lattes topped with cute faces of cats and bears.
If you ask me any question about Eurovision, there is a good chance I will know the answer.
Animals are important to me. I liked animals so much that I decided to stop eating them at age 5, and as a teen I volunteered at vegan events in London. My favourite animal of all is my cat, Winnie, a fluffy tabby who likes to sleep in flowerbeds and ask for his next meal by politely sitting and staring.
More about Elizabeth:
Elizabeth has been working with SEN pupils in primary and secondary settings since graduating from the University of Sussex with an English Language BA in 2014.
She has spent many an hour helping SEN pupils in English Literature lessons as a teaching assistant, and figured out along the way that simple, engaging visual retellings of stories across the GCSE English curriculum prove effective in helping the pupils to understand what they are reading.
Currently she works as Inclusion Coordinator at an Outstanding-graded London school, where she also delivers speech and language interventions, and always tries to make learning as visual and engaging as possible.
