Description
Learn French with Luc et Sophie is a story-based approach to teaching French at Key Stage 2. It comprises of two parts: 1ère Partie (Part 1) for Years 3–4 and 2ème Partie (Part 2) for Years 5–6.
Learn French with Luc et Sophie, 1ère Partie will not only provide you with 14 specially written French storybooks, it will also provide you with a wealth of creative teaching ideas to ensure coverage of the Foreign language Programmes of Study in the September 2014 National Curriculum for England in Years 3 and 4. This resource also covers all aspects of the Scottish ‘Curriculum for Excellence: Modern Languages – Experience and Outcomes’.
The scheme is designed with non-specialists in mind and will make implementing the National Curriculum easy.
There are 14 units in Learn French with Luc et Sophie, 1ère Partie. Each unit is based around a story featuring a young brother (Luc) and sister (Sophie) and their friends and family. The stories are topic-based, use simple sentences and introduce key vocabulary and language structures relating to the topic. Each unit contains an original song to reinforce vocabulary.
In the 2nd edition of Learn French with Luc et Sophie, 1ère Partie Starter Pack, you will find everything you need to get started:
- 1 copy of each of the 14 storybooks, written entirely in French, with the following topics and grammar focus
Unité 1 Bonjour (commands – imperative tense)
Unité 2 Je m’appelle Sophie (subject pronouns: je and tu)
Unité 3 Combien de biscuits ? (avoir – 1st person singular, plurals)
Unité 4 J’ai six ans (avoir – 1st and 2nd person singular – when talking about age)
Unité 5 J’ai un frère (possessives)
Unité 6 Beaucoup de bonbons (avoir – 3rd person singular – forming simple sentences)
Unité 7 Un bonbon rouge (colours as adjectives)
Unité 8 J’ai un chat (plural forms of adjectives – colour words)
Unité 9 Luc adore les serpents (common ‘er’ verbs – aimer, adorer, detester – 1st, 2nd and 3rd person present tense)
Unité 10 Dimanche c’est mon anniversaire (aller and faire – 1st person present tense)
Unité 11 Trente et un invites (expressions of quantity, il y a, grand/petit)
Unité 12 Quelle est la date de ton anniversaire ? (possession, accents)
Unité 13 J’ai mal ! (à la, au, aux)
Unité 14 Où est ma trousse ? (gender of nouns, adjectives agree with nouns) - a DVD-Rom with audio enhanced e-book versions of all the stories, a pdf of the teacherʼs book, along with sentence building activities for use on an IWB
- an audio CD of the stories acted out by native French speakers and songs, vocabulary files and listening exercises all recorded by native French speakers
- a comprehensive, easy-to-use teacherʼs guide containing lesson plans, exercises and activities to teach the vocabulary and grammar which arise in each story
