What’s been happening at Brilliant Publications? (14 Jul 22)

Here’s a quick summary of what’s been happening at Brilliant Publications this week.

Developing Reading Comprehension Skills Years 5-6: Non-fiction

I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to bring forward the publication of Kate Heap’s latest book. We were due to publish it in September, but the production process has gone so smoothly, it is already at the printers. The e-book is available to download from our website and you can pre-order copies of the printed book, which will be sent out in the next two weeks.

We’ve had a work experience person in the office

We haven’t been able to have work experience students for the past two years, due to the pandemic. Therefore it was a real pleasure to have a Year 12 student in the office this week. We gave her lots of different editorial and marketing tasks to work on – editing, proof reading, writing a brief for an illustrator, checking a book’s contents against the National Curriculum, writing a blog for our website – and she handled them all with intelligence and enthusiasm. It is always a pleasure to have students in the office as they help us to see things from a different perspective.

Enjoy your summer holiday!

Whether you have already broken up, or still have another week to go, best wishes for your summer holiday. I hope you can find time to relax and do things you want to do.

I’m reminded of something my son asked me when I was putting him to bed when he was about 3 years old. “Where is the battery inside us?” Of course I replied, “we don’t have batteries.” It transpired that he had overheard his preschool teacher saying something about “having to recharge her batteries!”
